Best Medicine Ever

I’ve not been well for basically the last two weeks so today I decided to bite the bullet and go to the doctor’s. I hadn’t been there in ages (not since 2009 according to the secretary). After my check-up, I came out to reception thinking, that was grand! Why have I been putting this off? Then I remembered when I got the bill and had to hand over €55. Then when I went to the pharmacy, it was another €40 for my prescription. I nearly died! Being sick is miserable enough, why does it have to cost so much?!
Then, to really top this day off, I was waiting to cross the street when a random gust of wind suddenly blew my skirt up in front of all the Friday evening traffic. The shame! I honestly couldn’t get home fast enough. As soon as I was safe indoors, I breathed the biggest sigh of relief. At this point, the only thing that will make me feel better right now is my bed, a stack of DVDs and a pint of extra chocolatey ice-cream. Well, be the movie star in your mind – and screw any of the crowd if they were scared….probably more delighted as they were able to witness such a fine sight!

Oh I love this! You are a girl after my own heart with the DVD’s and the chocolate ice cream, Ben & Jerry’s no less! My favorite kind and from my home state, Vermont!
I also put off going to the Doctor’s for many of the same reasons. However, a couple of years ago an elder shamed me into going because she said if I didn’t do it for myself that was one thing but that I should at least do it for my children and my husband, because it’d be terrible if I let something go unnoticed until it was too late and then they would be without me.
So I force myself to go each year. Each year it’s not so terrible as I thought it would be!
But the $$ – too ridiculous.
