Testing, TestingPosted: January 27, 2013
Skimming through some glossy magazines, I found not one but two samples of products I’ve been meaning to try out for ages. I immediately decided to rip open the little sachets and put them to the test.
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Shine claims to revitalise hair, add gloss and really make it shine.
I have long hair so I found this 10ml sample wasn’t really enough for me. Still I decided to give it a go. I left it in for the 3 minutes and washed it out without using any other products as I wanted to test its own ability.
In terms of shine, there wasn’t a huge difference. It gave a pretty similar finish to my usual conditioner – that is to say; it did make my hair shine but no more than usual. On the plus side, my hair did feel softer than normal, which I loved. I would consider buying the full-size product, as I imagine it would probably work a bit better if I had been able to apply a larger amount.
Aveeno Moisturising Lotion says it relieves and moisturises the skin for 24 hours.
This seems to be aimed more at people with fairly sensitive skin. That’s not really my skin type but as I’ve been on the look-out for a decent moisturiser, I wanted to try it out anyway. I applied this immediately after a shower. It absorbed quickly enough, as promised.
As this lotion contains oatmeal; oat oil and oat extract, I thought it would have a lovely fresh and wholesome scent to it. However, the smell was more clinical and it just reminded me a bit of my doctor’s waiting room which was obviously a bit off-putting. Thankfully the weird smell didn’t linger and my skin was left feeling soft and supple. Still, I’m not completely convinced so I think I’ll keep looking for the right moisturiser for me.
