13 Resolutions for 2013

Several months ago, I stumbled across a list of 100 books you should read in your lifetime. Thinking it was interesting, I saved the file and – having just browsed through it again – I now realise I’ve only read about twelve to fifteen of the books on the list. I’m going to aim to read at least twelve more of them, one for each month of the year.
2. Gain proper and valuable work experience
So recently I’ve found out the hard way that it’s not easy being a new graduate in this economy. But I’m an optimist and in 2013, I will find work experience where I can learn, make progress and get closer to my dream of being a writer.
3. Travel more
I love visiting new places and discovering all their little traits and charms. I’m lucky enough to have already been to some pretty amazing places, and I fully intend to see a bit more of the world in 2013. However, I also must…
4. Properly research places before visiting them
I’ve only just discovered that Audrey Hepburn was born in Ixelles in Belgium. I’m so annoyed because I stayed in Ixelles for 3 months last year without knowing this! I would have loved to have seen her birthplace. Finding out fun facts about places after I’ve been to them has happened to me all too often so from now on, I’m going to be doing my research before I go anywhere.
5. Do a photography course
Looking back through some of my older posts, I realise I should learn how to use my camera properly…
6. Do a cooking course
I’d love to learn some new dishes directly from an experienced cook, not just from the ones on TV and in books.
7. Stop interrupting
This is a really annoying habit that I’ve developed in the last year or so. I’ve always hated when people interrupt others who are talking but now I find myself doing it all the time! I have to be stopped!
8. Be more friendly, helpful, patient…
Deciding to be a better person is a bit of a cliché but it’s hardly a bad one. The world could always do with better people…or at least people who try to be that way.
9. Eat healthier
It’s a cliché for a reason! You know how it goes – less takeaways, more home cooking; less cake and cookies, more fruit and veg….and so on. Of course that’s all easier said than done but a girl’s got to try.
10. Exercise more
Another cliché! But it is important. When I was a kid; I did swimming, dancing, athletics…Nowadays, the most exercise I get is dashing around looking for the charger when my laptop/phone/camera is about to die.
11. Read more blogs
I’ve discovered lots of cool, unique and inspiring blogs this year and I can’t wait to find more in 2013.
12. Work on my own blog
I only started my blog this year so I’m still getting the hang of some things. Over the next twelve months, I want to put lots more time and effort in to properly developing my site.
13. Actually make the effort to keep my resolutions
Like a lot of people, I make all sorts of plans and promises every December 31st . Also like a lot of people, I tend to forget about them by mid-January. So, I hereby declare that in 2013, I will – to the best of my ability – try to keep my resolutions…at least for more than two weeks this time.

I think I might just copy your list
These are awesome resolutions–such a great range of topics. Best of luck in fulfilling them. All the best in 2013!
