Hot Sweet Strawberries

Summer is nearly upon us and strawberries are coming back in to season. When ripe, these bright gorgeous red berries burst with sweet flavour. Not only are they delicious, they’re low in calories and high in vitamins. I got a punnet of fresh Irish strawberries this morning and decided they’d make a perfect after-dinner treat…However by the time evening rolled around, I couldn’t help remembering that as well as the strawberries in my fridge; I also happened to have a certain something lurking in my cupboard, begging to be used. It’s the perfect accompaniment to fresh fruit, making it a little less wholesome and a lot more tempting…yes, you guessed it – chocolate!

In this case, it wasn’t just any chocolate. It was Lindt’s dark chocolate with a hint of chilli extract. It has all the flavour of luxurious dark chocolate with a fiery aftertaste. So when you melt this chocolate and pour it over fresh juicy strawberries, you get something pretty incredible. Every bite is sweet and slightly spicy, and it tastes indulgent without being overwhelming. In other words, it’s the perfect treat for all these upcoming summer nights.
